Introduction: When it comes to building something, one always starts with planning out the structure of it. Whether it is a building or a machine, drawing out the structure first is very important. This process is known as the technical drawing process. These are a kind of engineering drawings. Many private sectors as well as government sectors funds these technical drawing projects. They hire architectural consultancy firms to conduct such technical drawing for bigger projects. These drawing require various data about various different things. These drawings are consisted of different diagrams and information. Sometimes these are two dimensional, and sometimes three dimensional. This article analyses the technical drawing tenders published by the government agencies in India during the last year.

Yearly Analysis of Technical Drawing Tenders: During the last year, a total number of 351 tenders for technical drawing were published by the government agencies in India. Among these, the highest number of tenders for technical drawings was published in the state of Gujarat at 42 tenders. Jammu and Kashmir ranked second in the list by advertising 38 tenders in the category of technical drawings. These 351 tenders were published by around 100 government agencies spread across the country. A few notable agencies among them are the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and the Indian Army. These two agencies published 54 and 33 tenders respectively during the previous year.

Tenders for Structural Drawings: Structural drawings are usually sought for the purpose of building construction. The government agencies funded 80 structural drawing projects in 2023 for various purposes. Among these, Indian Army published 23 tenders and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) published 22 tenders for structural drawings. For example, the Indian Army published a tender in Gujarat published a tender seeking for consultancy services for the preparation of structural drawing detailed estimate yard stick. They also published tender in Jammu and Kashmir to carry out complete architectural and structural drawing, determination of SBC soil by performing SPT oblique DCPT. Besides this, the Central Public Works Department advertised a tender in Arunachal Pradesh for the construction of retaining cum boundary wall for collapsed portion (conducting soil testing and preparing detailed structural drawing of retaining wall). Apart from these two government agencies, other government agencies like Military Engineering Services, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and various other departments sought structural drawing tenders during the previous year.

Tenders for Manpower Outsourcing Services: Manpower is very important for the completion of any sort of projects. To carry out the technical drawings with utmost accuracy, the government agencies look for highly skilled manpower. They advertised a total number of 66 tenders looking for manpower outsourcing services for technical drawings in India during the last year. Such as, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited published a tender seeking for manpower outsourcing services in Maharashtra for fixed remuneration, non-IT technical, draftsman, civil engineer. Also, many other important government agencies participated in the tender bidding procedure seeking for manpower outsourcing services in technical drawings.

Tenders for AutoCAD Software Services: Many technical drawings are drawn by using the AutoCAD Software. Government agencies, as well as private sectors, often look for AutoCAD operators or many other AutoCAD software services. Last year, the government agencies published 33 tenders for AutoCAD Software services for technical drawings in India. For example, Indian Oil Corporation Limited advertised a tender in Assam seeking for drafting services of engineering drawings using AutoCAD Software of latest version. Also, the Public Works Department (PWD) published a tender in Jammu and Kashmir for the preparation and formation of DPRs/ AutoCAD Drafting. In Karnataka, Kudremukh Iron Ore Company published 4 tenders for providing draftsman with AutoCAD knowledge. Other government agencies like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Department of Heavy Industry also looked for AutoCAD Software services for technical drawings in 2023.

Contract Value for Technical Drawing Tenders: The estimated contract value for all the technical drawing tenders was not published by the government agencies. However, a few did and that is analysed here to provide an idea about the expenditure of these opportunities. The estimated value of the technical drawing tenders widely varied. Starting from a few thousands of rupees, it went up to crores. For example, the tender published by PWD in Jammu and Kashmir for comprehensive consultancy services for the construction of main gate and gate in front of girls’ hostel at SCS Govt. Degree College, including complete soil testing, had the estimated budget of Rs. 28 thousand only. Whereas, MD – UJVN in Uttarakhand advertised a tender seeking for project management consultancy, which was of worth around Rs. 64.92 crores. Projects like this, which included other engineering services along with technical drawing, had a big estimated budget. Projects with only drawing plans varied within the range of a few thousands up to Rs. 60 lakhs, which is not a small amount. Hence, the size of these opportunities is large enough and fairly profitable.

Live Tender Analysis: As of April 22, 2024, there were a total number of 14 live tenders for technical drawings in India advertised by government agencies. Among these 14 live tenders, Assam was ranked at the top with 5 live tenders. Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh ranked second in the list with 2 live tenders each, as per shown in the graph below. Until May 4, 2024, the State government agencies and the Public Sector Undertakings published Mechanical Drawing Tenders, AutoCAD Drawing Tenders and Technical Drawing Tenders.

Conclusion: Construction industry is a growing and demanding industry in today’s world. This analysis shows that the government agencies are significantly and increasingly investing in civil engineering services. In the upcoming years, the demand and value will increase. This opens up a wide opportunity for the consultancy firms providing technical or engineering drawing services. The firms with the expertise of providing detailed and accurate service are suggested to actively monitor these opportunities and participate in them. This way, the government agencies along with the help of private firms will help in the development of the country and serve its citizens.
